This movie is a false!!!
This movie is based on a real woman-hero but with many not true events... Anna Walentynowicz - she told that this movie is not a true movie about Solidarity and herself!!!
I haven't seen this movie, so I can't say if it's false or not. I know that it's very important to remember the history and the easy way is to make more movies representing different points of view.
Wikipedia says this movie is based both on Anna Walentynowicz and on another female, Alina Pieńkowska.
By the way, Anna Walentynowicz was one of the victims of the Smolensk plane disaster, April 10, 2010, which killed the Polish president and numerous other Polish dignataries.
Is it better for the movie never to have been made? I just watched it tonight and was moved by it. Is it any less moving because it wasn't historically or factually accurate? Are we supposed to gather our history from movies? Take from it what you will. I enjoyed this movie and it game me a renewed sense of solidarity for and with my own union.
