The true story of ECW?

Although a extremely entertining and informative DVD, I feel that the DVD does not tell the full story of ECW and also paints Vinnie Mac as a Saint he probably never was. Eric Bischoff is delibritly made to look stupid and wrong while MacMahon is shown to be right about everything and a huge philantrophist. For someone who appaerently loved ECW and tried to help it, MacMahon sure hates TNA. Maybe he just saw ECW as an ally agaisnt WCW. Thw DVD glosses over the 'Mass Transit' incident and totally fails to mention the attempted invasion of ECW by XPW. It also makes it seem that the Dudleyz invented the burning table although they were being used by Public Enemy in 1995. There is also no mention of the relationship between ECW and FMV. Vincent seems to be intent on using every documentry on werstling made by the WWE to make him out as a genious and a saint and WCW a blot on the landscape.

I agree completely. This is definitely a one-sided view. It's entertaining, but you've got to take much of it with a grain of salt and (as it is presented) as opinion.

Well I agree with most of what you said, but the dvd didnt make the dudleys look like they invented burning tables. Bubba Ray said, we didnt invent it, we didnt perfect it, but we were known for it. The dudleys were pretty bad ass in ecw. Wow. Did anyone see what they said about the mother and daughter??????? lmao.

reply

i would have liked it if they had talked about more wrestlers like new jack and such they left out some big players in ECW

reply

Not kidding, or did Heyman and Dreamer completely forget Impact Players, Francine, Konnan and Jazz?

Never knew Raven only had a two week run in ECW as the dvd glossed past him and Shane Douglas.

reply

i actually think the dvd spent a long time talking about raven, whether it be that they concentrated on his feud with dreamer, his feud with sandman, and his leaving/returning. they only have three hours, they cant put too much time into one person. however, i agree about impact players and konnan and the like

reply

I thought it was utterly amazing that Francine only got about a five second archive screening, and that was it. Francine was a staple part of ECW for years. I also thought it was really strange how they never mentioned the rest of the Dudley's, especially Big D*ck Dudley (RIP), either.

I thought it was a great DVD (4.5/5 for me) but they were very selective in what they put in there. The lack of mention of FMW was very disappointing, as FMW were my favourite promotion of all time.

reply

and i don't remember Kimona Wanalaya on the dvd at all.

reply

That would have made the DVD better but I got the feeling that WWE wanted to avoid drawing too much attention to the big ECW players (Douglas, Raven, Funk, etc.) that they don't have under contract for themselves. Look soon for Shane Douglas' own DVD about ECW's history that should touch on a lot of the stuff the WWE's DVD didn't.

reply

Actually the DVD is pretty faithful to the full story. If you actually read up on the history of the company you'd see that.

reply

Actually they said that about using tables without fire. Several seconds later somthing was said about how they threw thumb tacks on a table and set it on fire and it was the first time anyone had seen something like that.

Buh-Buh:"There's a mother WHO TAUGHT HER DAUGHTER HOW TO SUCK DICK!"
Cyrus: Why are you laughing, Joey Styles?
Joey: I'M NOT LAUGHING!

The Dudleys were my favorite heels back in the day. They were a wall of *beep* barely anything could penetrate.

It's coming back after Wrestlemania! ECW! ECW! ECW! ECW! ECW!

Your joking right? Why?

Your making the mistake of thinking your more important than you actually are.

i totally agree with this simple statement, i used to watch it every week (wwf/e that is) then we found something on a crazy channel, the ring was shoddy, the lights dim and dull, the music was quite lame, really quiet to the point of hardly knowing when a wrestler came out....this was ECW, me and a few mates watched it while their was nothnig else on, WOW what a show this, i just thought it was what ive been wanting in this kind of show (ecw/wwe/wcw even boxing etc) but this just had it all.....

i was simply hooked from then, i went out the weekend after and me and a few mates bought a few dvds each watched them then swopped them with each other. Pretty soon we had seen nearly every dvd from 95 i think.....

Vince McMahon is a power controlling freek and needs to be taken down a peg or 2, i dont watch wwe now, it wasnt long after the "invasion" of ecw/wcw that i stoped watching it, i saw him take away ecw and wcw and thought it was very cowardly of him (it ight have been money issues but dont tell me he couldnt have worked out a deal)

STEWIE: Never call them that again! It's Lois and the Fatman! Do you hear me?

I remember New Jack called Heyman a _ c o c k s u c k e r _ in TNA. He got in trouble for saying that on the air. As far as I know it all came down to money, Heyman owed money to a lot of people and didn't pay them, New Jack was one of them. Then when Heyman and the Dudleys moved to WWE, New Jack says the Dudleys stole his gimmick (camouflage) which they didn't wear in ECW, etc. So even after Heyman and Co. "sold out" and went to WWE for a fat paycheck, guys like New Jack still never saw a dime.

reply

I can see how New Jack is so upset about Heyman never paying up, Heyman still owes money to alot of people. However, if he complains about the Dudleys wearing camouflage in WWE, then he's just being a big baby. Then again, I suppose that comes with pschosis which is what New Jack most definitely has.

thats because thats a case that still cannot be discussed

I love how McMahon proclaimed how wonderful it was for him to take ECW talent and give them something in return and how bad Eric Bischoff was for not giving ECW anything.

Question Vince, what did you give AWA for Hulk Hogan? or any of the other mass acquisitions of talent in the 80s to make the global empire today?

If you cut out the puckering up to Vince, then you have a decent 4-4.5 DVD. I actually liked the Forever Hardcore DVD better because it at least was less biased. It also had key players like Raven, Shane Douglas, New Jack, and even Sabu speak about ECW and their experiences. This DVD was the very first time I'd ever heard Sabu speak.

Vince is a piece of *beep* lair dick head its the reason why wrestling sucks today if he would have been a man and did something with wcw and ecw guess what wrestling would be fine today but since he only wants his crap company which is failing cause rating are down and so on wrestling will never be the same.I feel if nobody fixes it wrestling in a couple of years will be gone and i agree vince didn't give awa nothing he likes to say *beep* how wcw stole this yet the wrestlers left and wear not under contract.I don't know why people always give wwe a pass when they did more harm then good people say how wcw was so bad in 1999-2000 that they needed to go out of business yet when wwe was so bad from 1992-1996 as a lot of people say people didn't say oh i hope wwe goes out *beep* i hate fans that always sided with wwe and give them a pass *beep* that *beep*
