How good is this movie?

How good? It looks good and I love Chiaki Kuriyama. But I want to know from someone who has seen it before I buy it.

It's very good. I just got done watching it, and I wasn't let down a bit.

All of the cast give good performances, and although Hyde isn't in much of the movie, his performance is better than in his previous film, Moon Child. I highly recommend it, especially if you like Chiaki Kuriyama. I thought she was great in it.

I died then I thought of you and came back to life.
How can you think if you're dead?

Very nice film! I loveeeeeeeee it, just finished watching it. Hyde gives a good performance for the little time he has... Chiaki Kuriyama is very good! The plot twists in this movie are really good and everything's pretty wrapped up in the end, which I always enjoy.

This film is... fantastic.

It's the best!

Yeah I got this film like 2 weeks after I posted this in March.

If you are wanting to see the movie for Hyde, then don't bother buying it. He is in the movie for maybe a total of 10 - 15 minutes, and he doesn't say much. Plus, let's call a spade a spade, shall we? Hyde isn't much of an actor. I mean, come on, have we all seen Moon Child? Don't get me wrong, I love this man and his golden voice. Just don't expect much out of him from this movie. He's in it to look lovely (which he does), and that's about it. The director cast him because he wanted a singer that the girls would flock to the theatres to see. Over and over.

I have the deluxe Japanese edition of this movie. It cost me $93 dollars. O_O But I love anything having to do with Hyde and L'Arc, so I was willing to fork over the cash. Now, I'm keeping it as my "ace-in-the-hole", so to speak, and I'll sell it on eBay to some doting fangirl whenever it goes out of print.

It's funny, because one of the special features included with the set is a reel of clips from the premier of the movie in Japan. The three lead stars and the director went to each debut and spoke with the audience after they'd seen the film. First, the director walks out, and the audience cheers. Then, Chiaki and her co-star (the boyfriend guy) come out, and the people cheer some more. *Then*, out strolls Hyde, and the crowd goes absolutely NUTS. This happens over and over again, like ten different times, at every showing of the film. They are just going bonkers over him! And he's soaking it up, acting so cool and bored with the whole thing. He's gotten a bit of a swelled head..

But anyway. He's pretty. Thus, he was cast.

Screen time = Little.

Acting skills = None.

reply

Big head because he enjoys the cheers and adulations of the crowd? Be serious...wouldn't you enjoy that treatment?

My opinion..he did a good job with his part. Not an award winning performance but he did good with what he had.

It works perfectly.

While I would definitely agree that he is a singer who girls would run to see (not to mention Gackt or Kamijo as well), he isn't that bad of an actor. I continuously rewatch Moon Child, especially at the end for *SPOILERS*

Sho's death scene. I mean, when he's shouting it actually makes me cry.

reply

i will recommend it because the movie is very well produced and the casts didnt let me down

got a question: is hyde's role here big?

Not Really. He is in the very beginning for like 1 minute. Then is in movie from like 12 minutes-35 minutes. He appears a couple more times but not for that long.

I have to say I thought this move was let down in so amny ways by cheesy teenage acting - is it just me or did everyone else miss it in all the doting over HYDE and Chiaki? That guy who helped the girl help Eve was such a ludricously bad actor he was literally cringeworhty. Yes, literally - I cringed. Then there is the whole 'Adam' and 'Eve' thing as well, for crying out loud, it doesn't get much cheesier than that.

The movie lacked most of all the eomtion and somber confidence that the story required. Incessantly flippant in so many parts it became some osrt of mutant chick flick.

And not to mention, the too ridiculous theories that the characters pop up with out of nowhere. Cringe cringe again.

Chiaki did waht she could and did very well. She's about the only one that can be said of. Hyde I have not seen in Moon Child but he performs more than ably here.

reply

I'm with you one the guy that helped. I couldn't stand him at all. I also cringed most of the time when he was on screen. And I felt like killing myself during that moon cycle thing he did.

yeah, the moon cycle thing was a bad idea. The overall movie, however, turned out to be WAY better than I could have ever imagined. Never has such an ordinary production occupied a higher place on my list. It's nothing more than a small-scale, moderately budgeted little film, but somehow it has captured my heart forever.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
OH MY HYDE...
his in it..but not much like Moon Child...
But he's still cute..
that's make the movie interesting..

I really l liked this movie...Hyde was good in his role, but the guy who played the lead's boyfriend...what a beautiful smile he has...I loved him in Gokusen as well :)

This movie is so horribly bad and it is reflected in how poorly it did in Japan, even with Hyde in it. The acting is poor and Chiaki seems forced till nearly 3/4's of the movie is over. Her boyfriend was annoying and did his job too well of being/coming across as an insensitive jerk. The movie was just bad and its reception by the general Japanese movie audience was just as bad. I have also found that many of Chiaki's Western fans aren't too happy with this movie either, myself being one of them.

This movie has come and gone and I barely remembered it, even though I own the DVD, it collects dust and I have it solely because I am a Chiaki fan. I watched it once and I haven't looked at it since.

reply

Oh, thank you! I thought I was the only one who wanted to strangle myself after watching this movie.

I'm a crazy Hyde fan, but I don't think I could bear watching this movie ever again. When he was on-screen, I will admit I was mesmerized by his beauty (and not so much his lines), but other than that, I couldn't wait for it to end.

Also, I love the song "Cape of Storms" dearly, but it was played so much throughout the movie that it got annoying. If you are a Hyde fan, I just suggest you look up his minimals parts in this movie on YouTube and call it a day.

I know that many of you don't agree with me, but that's my honest opinion (and seeing one of my pretty objects of obsession in a movie usually skews my judgement, but not at all in this case).

reply

I agree. I think they could have made a better adaption. I also thought Hyde could've done much MUCH better. He's my idolz and all but he wasnt so great in this one. at least in Moon Child he was one of the main significant characters...but i didnt like Moon child all that much either.....

nvm I think Hyde should just stick to singing.
