Ok for best results on Slime hunting, should i bother with Heros Spears for Lightning Thrust or should i carry on doing his swords(currently have 7 in swords) and rely on Yangus Executioner.

just rely on the hero and yangus only...there is no better way

What you're doing is fine, though I keep a (Uber) Falcon Blade and Demon Spear in the hero' inventory so he can equip either at will. I use the spear so I can do a Lightning Thrust on King Metal Slimes - the only quick way to kill 'em before they scarper, if it connects successfully. For the Liquid and regular Metal Slimes, i use Metal Slash with the sword which can do up to four HP damage. Have Angelo learn Metal Slash too and give him a Falcon Blade also, so you can do up to 8 HP between them.
Jessica is best with the whips, with her Twin Dragon Slash which can also damage them (but not always).
I always try the Dragon Graveyard MKS-Beelzebuzz thing
