Meh

This isn't a bad show, it's just...bland. Kind of like Jane herself. She's not anyone you'd bother to dislike, she just isn't particularly likable, either. There's nothing interesting enough about her to warrant a show built around her.

At first Jane was kind of an outsider at her work, which was somewhat entertaining. She had been out of the mainstream workforce for a long time and didn't know how to fit in with a group, and it was fun to watch her try to learn the basic small talk and polite lies everyone has to use in her new setting.

In later episodes, for some unexplained reason (self-indulgence, Ms. Pavlinek?) Jane is suddenly everyone's favorite co-worker. When she didn't go to an after-hours work function with the group, they all sat around and moaned about how much more fun it would have been with her there. But when she arrived, they continued doing the same things they had been doing without her. When her appraisal didn't please her and she took another job, the entire office walked out and picketed on the sidewalk to keep her from leaving. The viewer is left asking why they would all risk their own jobs for her--especially since she wasn't fired and destitute, she had resigned and had another job lined up.

I don't expect to see it renewed, but if it is, hopefully we'll see it liven up a little. Jane, you're not a bad person at all, but you are boring. Do something. And Teresa, your credentials suggest you have funny-ness in you. Let's see it.
