It's interesting to note that Andy Lau gets to dub his own voice in the Cantonese track. However, one of my friends recently convinced herself that Andy Lau's Mandarin is terrible in reality, and as such his voice is not the one we hear from his character (in the original Mandarin audio). I completely disagree; no dub can be that perfect. The sound is that of a live recording, despite the common practice of dubbing in Chinese cinema even in one's native language. Any takers?

I read in a local movie mag that Andy Lau's voice in this movie was dubbed by the same voice who dubbed for his character in "House of Flying Daggers".

He was NOT dubbed in this nor HofD! Damn people really need to know Andy more, that's his freakin' Mandarin voice! The same one he sings and gives interviews in! Hear some of his songs and watch some HofD special feautures, he uses the same voice!

Andy Lau was dubbed in both this movie and HOFD. However, the person who dubbed it has a very similar-sounding voice, hence the confusion.

Wow, STOP SPREADING STUPID RUMOURS! Andy can speak fluent Mandarin, haven't you watched ANY of his interviews in Mandarin or heard any of his Mando-pop songs!? It's stupid to assume a person with "a very similar-sounding voice" dub him when Andy can speak fluent Mandarin.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think he's dubbed.
There's a credit for Andy's mandarin voice double in the end credits.

Although I gotta admit: the resemblance between both voices is scary.

Some people just won't believe the truth. Diehard fans, mostly.

I'm surprised some people can't even tell they're watching a dubbed show.
Even Rene is dubbed in this movie. It's just that she dubbed herself.

The person who dubbed Andy Lau's voice is called Sun Dachun.

A World Without Thieves (simplified Chinese: 天下无贼; traditional Chinese: 天下無賊; pinyin: Tiānxià Wú Zéi) is a 2004 Chinese action drama film directed by Feng Xiaogang and starring Andy Lau, Rene Liu, Ge You and Li Bingbing. The film is an adaptation of a novelette of the same title by Zhao Benfu that was first published in 1999. The original story is moderately different from the film adaptation. The film was first released in Shanghai, China on 5 December 2004. It clinched the 2005 Golden Horse Award for Best Screenplay Adaptation.

The film was released in Hong Kong with Cantonese dubbing provided by Lau for his own role, Anthony Wong for the role of Uncle Li, and Chapman To for the role of Sha Gen.
