This show really could have used an epilogue of some sort.

Something like The OC did would have made the ending so much easier for me to swallow.

I just watched all 4 seasons off of Amazon Prime over the last week or two and while the ending was better than I was expecting for a finale that was shot before they knew they were being cancelled, I really wish they had gotten more notice and could have added something there at the end. You know, do the full cheesy montage.

Like, have Kris winning the Kentucky Derby (or the Triple Crown even) on Flame, the Davis family and the Ritter family getting along at some sort of family event (Christmas or something, maybe even merging the farms together), Pablo and Jean actually being together, real endings for Matt and Dani (preferably not together), something to show that Junior continued his green kick like building a wind farm or an electric car or pretty much anything else, maybe Kris and Jr having a kid.

In the end everyone ended up happy, so I can accept it, but I really would have loved to know what happens to the characters next. I suppose part of the problem is they took all the characters and gave them ~ happy endings within a matter of 2-3 episodes regardless of where they were up until then.

Have they ever released the scripts or discussed the plot for the planned season 5?

Either way. I really enjoyed this show, I was surprised how attached to the characters I became. I was genuinely sad when I finished the finale and knew I wouldn't get to watch Kris, the Ritter's and the Davis's any more. Part of me is glad I didn't watch it until now so I at least know it's been long enough that there is no way it will come back and I won't cling to hope that it may somehow return.

For me personally, in season 4, I was looking forward to seeing everyone's first days after the IMR, how everyone would be coping with the consequences, and how the show would turn onward from there. However, re-watching it years later, I really did enjoy it immensely. I loved Noah, I honestly thought he brought in the comic relief that was so desperately needed during the first half of the season with all the animosity with Kris, Jean, Pablo. I also loved the addition of Calvin- I thought he could have been a really interesting character, had the show continued and his character had been fleshed out more.
