Was This an expanded Sitcom Pilot?

I'm watching this now and Lillard and Cuba are in an apartment and the set looks like a sitcom apartment set, and they talk like the guys in "Swingers". I keep waiting to hear the laugh track.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.
