Why is the sound so terrible in swedish productions?

Just watched this movie on swedish television and I had to turn the volume up twice as high as I normaly have it (that is on the scale of my tv, but you get the point) to hear what they said and I still missed quite a bit.
This is not the first time this has happened. Don't remember any specific movies, but I do remember my mother comenting on the same thing 20 years ago. I really though it had gotten better, but I guess not (of course there are exceptions).

If I don't need subtitles to understand a movie in english why should I need it to understand a movie in my native language?
