Continuity??

Does anybody know the reason/story behind any of the lack of continuity between this Xmas special and the beginning of the series?

ie: - The transfer of the Sh!tmobile to Ricky
- Randy being around in '97 vs. no earlier than '99 (the series began in 2001, at which point Julian and Ricky had been in prison for 18 months)
- Most obviously, Episode 1 (2001) being the first time the camera crew is with them, vs the Xmas special (1997), where they are already being filmed.

The Christmas special awesome, no doubt, but it just annoyed me how it didn't really fit with the original beginning of the series.

There may be some things to consider, such as WHEN the Xmas special was writen/filmed, etc., WHEN the series actually takes place (ie: 4 years in the past?), and lastly, whether or not it actually matters! Haha. After all, maybe the creators knew the Xmas special would be awesome, and just said F#ck It.

Anyway, any thoughts boys?

Actually the film crew was first with Julian and Ricky during the pilot from 1999, which shows the actions that got them locked up and given the jail sentence they're released from at the start of season 1. That doesn't explain what it's doing there in 1997 though, there's probably no logical explanation to that.

according to mike clattenburg and barry dunn the movie and x-mas special are supposed to be isolated from the regular series kinda stand alone projects if u would

Correct Fire Person,

This was NOT meant to be a mockumentary ep. Thi was just to give back story on the happenings @ SunnyVale.

1). The *beep* was destroyed twice and its been restored twice (fact).
2). Randy's been a member of the park since Grade 6 (at least since then) so no continuity breaks there.
3). This episode is solely for informative purposes (you find out T & JRoc first are exposed to chopping/screwing a track/album, where/when Ricky inherits the *beep* from Julian, where Randy comes from and why he & Lahey "team" up, George Green never ages (true he looks exactly the same thru Seas. 9), Why Lahey always "waits to call the cops" although he always prematurely calls the cops screwing himself over, randy's white pants are a gift from Lahey, Barb & Lahey's divorce scenario, and many other reasons for current TPB-Lore).

Actually another inacuracy is J-rock...in the christmas he is preppy, but in the 3rd season in the Microphone Assassin episdoe they say J-rock has always acted like that.

yeah i thought the same thing, but then i considered like, T acts sorta the same and T is actaully black, so maybe when they say J (to tha) R-O-C always acted black, they could have meant relativly. (it's a stretch prob, but it's hilarious to me when i think of it that way)

"when they say J (to tha) R-O-C always acted black, they could have meant relativly."

That literally made me LOL.

6 years later, but whatever...

Maybe if they meant like, Carlton Banks black.
