did that actually historically happen? I cringed at the rudeness of the Americans, especially when they called him Charlie Chaplin.
Are there any of those actual pictures on the net?

I actually thought if there ever was a time for the rude American tourist, this is one of them. Does this guy really deserve respect? The scene with the door is the only one I know really happened.

Back then Americans would decapitate fallen Japanese soldiers and send the heads back home to their girlsfriends. A different time...

ie many of them were just simple ignorant farmboys.

I thought they were calling him Charlie Chan. I did not think their disrespect came from an awareness of his war crimes as from cultural ignorance and a bit of xenophobia.
