Movie making in Canada has sunk to a new low!

Plague City?!?!?!?! Honestly... how stupid is this movie going to be? Other keywords for this movie should be retarded, dumb, idiotic, moronic, low-brow, sensationalist garbage, etc, etc, ad naseum.

What a waste of space/time/life.

reply

It's typical Toronto "Centre-of-the-Universe" mentality.

Q. How many people from Toronto does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A. None, cause they think the world revolves around them.

Also, check out "The Toronto Song" by Arrogant Worms.

It has nothing to do with Toronto being the centre of the universe (which of course it is :) ). It has to do with someone having WAY too much time on their hands and no writing skills. Worst movie made in a very very long time.

reply

Toronto does not have a center of the universe mentality. Yes this movie is bad, but just because it overdramatizes it; it has nothing to do with Torontonians. As someone who was there during the SARS "crisis", it really wasn't a big deal, and I think that it is funny to see it being turned into the plague of the century.

reply

I think the main premise of the movie was missed by some folks. It wasn't so much what was happening with the majority of the people in Toronto, but more the bureaucracy of the government and more importantly what the health care workers had to go through.....remember, most of those who died or contracted SARS in Canada were health care workers....like Rosie.

So, sure, the streets may not have been that empty, but SARS did affect Toronto and SARS was there. Just fortunately it was contained.

Whether or not you think it is a bad movie, is of course, your opinion.

IMHO

hmm...must be american

I think this looks interesting....

a trained monkey is capable of making a better movie than Plague City. Maybe you didn't actually watch it.

reply

Ususally I enjoy watching Canadian made for tv movies like the Halifax Explosion and H2O, but *beep* Why make a movie about Sars, whoppee *beep* doo, Sars in Toronto, oh noes! Make a movie about the 100's that died in East Asia from Sars, not a movie about herioc nurses riskin their lives for several patients in toronto. I cant believe this movie was even considered to be produced. What a waste of time.

yeah pretty stupid...

reply

Whether or not you agree with the movie and how it was made, 1 thing remains: there were deaths and they were preventable. The end.

reply

Basically, anyone who lived through SARS in Toronto knows this movie isn't quite based in fact. That said, I think it was a vehicle to expose a potential problem with future health crises and how equiped we are to handle them.

Has anything changed? Good question.

every time I see this movie on CTV during the afternoon week-ends, I get so mad!! What a crappy movie that got made and of course, the govt of Canada funded that BS crap....

reply

It's probably just crappy because they made it so fast in a rush to get a SARS movie out there.
