Carter Gets No Pity here- He's the Epitome of the US Media

I'm sorry that his parents have to live with his suicide. But what he did was abhorrent selfish and rotten. How can you let a baby starve to death, vulture lurking nearby, in order for fame and photo ops. I hope he took that Pulitzer and stuffed it up his a$$.
His case is the epitome of what the media represents-a bunch of venal selfish amoral vultures; carrion who'd do anything to sell a story.
To the vast majority of you media, particularly local news reporters, tv anchors and affiliated personnel, particularly those in the print media and local tv stations; You're filth. Every time I look at that vulture lurking around that dying starving baby, I think of the media.

He took that Pulitzer and killed himself not long after. So perhaps he wasn't purely this evil cold-hearted money-grabbing bastard you think him to be. I won't argue about the contemporary media. It's just that it's always too easy to judge people.

Actually if you research rather then make false statements you may realise that happened in Sudan.
Carter came across this girl and the vulture and realised this is what world poverty is. Moments after taking the image to show people like us who sit on the internet he helped the young girl to the feeding centre which was supposedly only 400 yards away.
He didn't do it to 'sell\ a story he took the image to show the western world what we have done and that we should help.

What's your evidence for this? Carter did NOT help the girl. He claimed to have chased the vulture away, but only after the firestorm of criticism for not helping her broke. Personally I suspect that may be a lie too. He didn't give a stuff about the girl, she was just material to be composed into a photo.

That child was starving to death LONG before he got there! If not for him, none of us would have even known, much less cared, about her plight.

That means he did his job and he did it well. Get off your high horse and see if YOU can get out there and make that much of a difference to the world.

He did his job well? High horse?
get off his jock, he's opportunistic scum.
ANY OF YOU CARTER FANS-PROVE YOUR POINTS!!!

The role of a journalist is to document events, and to use their skill to bring things to the attention of a public that would otherwise not know. This includes photo journalists like Carter who document with images. This is the same function as any reporter serves.

Are you also angry that Anderson Cooper showed the world what was going on when Hurricane Katrina hit? Do you hold a grudge that someone took a photo of the Hindenburg burning instead of putting out the fire? Edward R. Murrow reported on WWII instead of fighting it. Did you likewise go to the page for "Good Night and Good Luck" to rant that Murrow was opportunistic scum for not liberating a concentration camp? If so, you don't seem to understand anything about the nature of reportage.

No, I'm not a Carter "fan". I just think your complaint is a little strange.

I understand that due in part to the biased p-ss poor reporting we all had to suffer through news papers aren't selling and news publishers are going bankrupt left and right
Case in point-LA Times and Tribune papers
I stand by my earlier point. You have a moral obligation, as a HUMAN, to try to help others.
Carter did'nt
He could have took the shot and carried the little girl to a med camp
He did'nt.
Good riddance to him.
There were two buzzards in the picture
One hovering over the child...
and one taking the photo!!!

Do you actually know that he didnt for a face help the girl.

The girl wasnt struggeling TOWARDS the feeding camp, her mother had left her there to go get food. She returned afterward. I love how someone who has probably never been to my country can just assume that this man was money grubbing scum,he died poor.

Have you ever even been in a situation like that, have you ever seen a necklacing or experienced the crowd that goes a long with it...I'd like to see you try and intervene.

Good to see you living upto your name realvicious. You wouldnt last a day in Africa, let alone be typing this crap if you have actually ever been there and experienced similiar events.

If at first you don't succeed...so much for skydiving.

South Africa sounds like hell.
