Bad script + effects, everything else wasn't too bad

I didn't think the directing and acting and all of that were too bad as some claim.

It's true that the special effects weren't the greatest - I mean what kind of grenade explodes upward, but not outward?

But here's the key...the script was really bad and that ruined the whole film. I mean, I don't care how great the directing and acting are, when the script is bad, the movie is bad. The dialog was unnatural in parts. There was no story arc. There was no character arc. Who was the main character anyway? What goal was the character trying to achieve? How did said character overcome obstacles and grow as a character? Where are the subplots?

The director and producer can come on here and claim that the movie isn't bad and that those who didn't like the film are part of some fringe group, but 801 people rated this film so far, and the 3.4 out of 10 rating speaks for itself.
