I lived in the house in 88-89

My family lived in this house for about a year in the late 80's. Back then, it was 2 apartments, one upstairs and one down. We had the first floor and basement, (the second floor was empty at the time), and my brother actually slept in what used to be the embalming room. Weird stuff did happen, but nothing like what you find in the book or movies on this house. We had locked doors that would just swing open on their own, we would hear people walking above you when you knew no one was there, lights that wouldn't stay off, doors banging downstairs when nobody was in the basement, etc. But nothing that actually made us scared. It certainly didn't force us out of there. But whatever, it makes for a scary story... and I can say, 'I used to live in that house.'

This totally fascinates me. I had never heard of this haunting until I saw a commercial for the new movie. I was interested to see how it was supposedly true, and in my searching I found that there was already a documentary, which brought me here.

I came across another board, not on IMDB, where someone mentions living in the house. I wonder if it's you, also. The person mentioned that the mother says that the family lived in the home when they lived in the home, so her dates aren't adding up. This person also mentioned locked doors opening and voices and footsteps.

When did the family who supposedly experience these hauntings live in this home? Did they live there before or after you?

Even your experiences give me the chills. Maybe you ought to be making a movie deal. J/k :) Just curious, did you ever go into the basement?

I don't personally believe in ghosts, but I definitely believe in demons and the devil.

It might have been my sister whose post you saw, she has been discussing this movie too on other sites. There were 4 of us kids living there with our mother and stepfather, and yes, my older brother slept in the basement, in what used to be the embalming room. It looked nothing like what they show in the movie, not inside or out. And that's exactly it - the dates don't match up. We lived there the entire year of school for me, plus the entire summer after that, which would have been the summer of 88 thru the summer of 89, which overlaps the timeframes mentioned by the Snedeker family, which was who the documentary was based on. IF they actually lived there at all, it must have been before us, but it definitely could not have been for as long as they say. And like I said in my original post, weird stuff happened, but it really didn't frighten us. No one in my family ever ran screaming from the house or was afraid to come home or anything, the 'hauntings' were more of an annoyance, and nobody felt any evil prescence at anytime, as far as I know.

No, your dates don't match up. The Snedekers were still living there in the summer of 1988. You can find old newspaper clippings from around that time to prove it. Nice try though.

I'm such a candya$$, I'd be frightened by the stuff you just mentioned above! The lights, the banging doors, the people walking....oh god, that would totally freak me out!

I'm very happy you're okay.

By the way... Is the house we see in the documentary the real house? :)

If your story is true, it is more proof that the story told in this documentary wasn't completely made up like people on this board say it was. I certainly don't believe it was. Sure, the Discovery Channel might have(key phrase: "might have") had them fabricate a couple minor details to make the documentary more interesting, but I do not believe the entire story was made up.

Old house, wind, electrical problems explains it all

The thing is some people are weaker and acceptable to demons and spirits. It is amazing you experienced anything.

As for the house I wouldn't want to be in it for a second.
