Really thought it was a hoax: SPOILERS BEWARE!!

I really thought it was a hoax until they had the exorcism. I never knew the priest needed to ignore the "evil" during such a service. I can't imagine what the priest went through - what a brave man.

At first, I thought the family made it all up to pay for their son's cancer bills. But after the exorcism scene, nope. I totally believe it.

What I wonder is why didn't Paul speak about it? Or the husband/father of the Parker family? Paul had the worst of it....maybe he still holds a grudge against his family.

Anyway, I haven't seen the Hollywood movie yet and I hope they didn't "cheese" it all up. I hope they made it as true to life as possible and didn't include "cheap" thrills.

Oh geez....I'm STILL scared from what I saw!!! :-O
Makes me think of things that happened to me as a kid and I never thought twice about them....esp my bed shaking some nights!!

No one gets rich off a haunting. Maybe you sell a few books and get paid a bit to do a few interviews but the money would not last or give you enough to make a living.

Also think of all the hate and judgement people get. No parent would put their kids in that kind of danger and spot light.

What is to gain of the hoax? Not much at all.

This real boy who was the focus of this haunting actually went into hiding after this. He didn't want publicity.

think of how you'd feel having your family profiled on CNN.com with "Family attacked by ghosts!" This is shared millions of times on the net. People comment calling you fake and stupid. I mean who would want that?

I sure wouldn't. I have seen spirits all my life. I'm not sharing my real name or publishing a book on it. I don't need that judgement. I doubt I'll even come back here and read replies to my posts.

My point is people rarely pull hoaxes like this. I say rarely because only those who live in the homes know what really happened. Since I wasn't with them then I'm not judging them.

Yes, I don't know why people would want the public scrutiny for the rest of their lives with people always calling them "mentally ill" or "a liar." Unless you're that desperate for attention it seems like it would do more harm than good. You couldn't leave your house or speak to anyone without them hounding you with questions, accusations, assumptions, etc.

You might get a bit of money from books, interviews, movie deals, etc. But you wouldn't even be able to enjoy it with the public against you. So I don't really a good reason to it either.
