'I Married a Strange Person!'

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this Bill Plympton film.

I noticed a lot of connections between the two.

In IMASP a caterpillar grows throughout the movie and in the end saves everyone as a sort of Deus Ex Machina when it returns as a butterfly at the end of the film. Similar to Pandy's child growing through the later parts of the film into the super being that saves everyone.

777's final form is almost exactly the same as the General in IMASP, they sprout guns and barrels from every part of their body becoming a hulking mass of muscle and weapons.

I'm a bit foggy but isn't there a scene in Dead Leaves where the back half of their car is blown away turning them into a rocket? The same exact thing happens in IMASP.

The visual style is very similar too, no constraints in the physical world everything and anything can happen no matter how unrealistic or crazy. I may be the only one who see's it but I was wondering if anyone else noticed the similarities between the two films.

If I'm missing anything feel free to add more, I need to rewatch both films side by side.

Bumping this in hopes of anyone else who may have seen both IMASP and Dead Leaves (all 8 of us)

I've seen them both, but i never saw a connection between the two as i was watching.
I guess its because the mood in Dead Leaves was so much more flamboyant than I Married a strange person.

it's more of a Wesley Archer, "Jac Mac and Radboy Go!" connection than Bill Plympton, but I see where you're coming from.

Both of these movies are amazing in their own ways, but I personally never saw any connections between them other then being totally off the wall and really great, creative flicks. And yes, you are probably right that there are only 8 of us that have seen the both of them :p. I recommend IMASP to most everyone I meet, but Dead Leaves takes a little more of a refined taste to enjoy IMO.
