I missed the first 20 minutes. Did they mention Janis Joplin Died here.? Can't imagine doing a documentary on Higland Gardens and not mentioning what put it on the map. I Walk my dog passed the window every morning. Didn't realize it was so sleazy. Cool but Sleazy. Million dollar homes 50 feet away. Love that abut LA.

shareWell, the documentary isn't about the hotel. It's about the struggling actors/musicians/etc. living in the hotel and failing miserably.

They didn't all fail miserably. A couple of them got a series which isn't bad odds considering and others did book smaller jobs. Not going to pay their rent for that whole time period, but it's something.
shareThe Highland Gardens web site mentions that it used to be called the Landmark Motor Hotel, and it says "guests have included Janis Joplin." But they didn't include that she never checked out. I wonder if you can rent her room?
