documentary or movie?

I thought this was a great film starring the very lovely Brooke Nevin. I noticed the film was filmed in 2002 and released around 2004. Yet Miss Nevin had all ready done plenty of work before this date. It made me wonder if she was added to spice up the film in a very "scripted" way. Any comments?
