I stayed there back in 2001 and it was the exactly what this documentary says it is! You meet so many great people there! This is indeed a hidden treasure in Hollywood.
i never heard of it until just now, i'm watching the movie on sundance and i might stay there just for the hell of it.
shareI just recently stayed there in May. It's a block away from Hollywood Blvd, Kodak, Hollywood-Highland, stars homes. We did hear some weird noises at night, but that could have all been all in our minds... or Janis :) All in all it was a great little location. I have to check out the movie now.
shareAm I the only one who found the the whole thing poignant rather than frat-party cool? There is something so achingly hopeful about so many of the people who stayed there. Hollywood is a really hard place to crack, like New York, or any other insular place. I found it painful to watch some of the people in the film, like the girl who impersonated Marilyn Monroe (I'm sorry to say I don't remember her name). She seemed so winsome and hopeful but clueless at the same time.
