Paul Gross as Diefenbaker? Too funny!
Irony of ironies:
Paul Gross played a Mountie with a wolf named "Diefenbaker" as faithful companion in "Due South"!
Now he's playing John Diefenbaker!

The ironing is delicious!
shareYou mean "irony", don't you?
Of course, he *did* do a lot of ironing on "dueSOUTH"... including his boxers and his BOOTS! ^-^
I started laughing too when I saw his characters name. Like with one actress I like her name was Isabel on a show and a movie. Now she is in Grey's Anatomy and her name is Isabel but this time it is spelt different Isobel. Bur Paul as Diefenbaker is just way too funny
shareYeah, cracked me up too,
I just watched the trailer and have to say (though I had doubts previously) he's not all bad now that he's matured a bit. That grey around the temples is kind of hot methinks.
Check out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108756/trivia, says Diefenbaker (the wolf) was named after John Diefenbaker!
Funny coincidence though!

Due South was one of the best things on commercial television in the US - of course I didn't even know the last episodes existed until it went into reruns on cable! it was filled with all manner of cross-referenced names, I'm not Canadian and it's pathetic how little I know about Canada but I always presumed the wolf was named after someone.
probably anyone reading this knows, but I just learned that Tommy Douglas is Kiefer Sutherland's grandfather.
I just learned that Tommy Douglas is Kiefer Sutherland's grandfather.
In addition to your error in tense, I believe Canadians say that Kiefer Sutherland is Tommy Douglas' grandson.
And I believe more Canadians know the name of the father of Canada's universal health care than any ex-pat Hollywood actor, no matter who he's related to.

I saw that too! I loved that show!
