evan rachel wood..

Is SUCH a bad actress! She's done that 'look at me I'm a teenage whore' role enough! She's not even any good at it. Can't stand her!!

reply

Wow, I think you're the first person I've heard say she's bad. I personally think she's a great actress.

reply

When i first saw her in Thirteen i thought she was perfect for the role. But then i started to see her else where and i was a little iffy about it but now i love her.

reply

I think she's good, but she should branch out a bit more with her roles. She doesn't seem to have a huge range. But 'Across the Universe' looks interesting, so lets see.

Disagree. I wouldn't call her roles "look at me I'm a teenage whore". Where did you get that? Because of how she dresses in the movies? Hello, have you seen half the world's teenagers and how they dress? That's another subject, so back to Evan Rachel Wood. Yes, she has played a few roles where she is a very conflicted and emotionally charged teenager who is also provacative. She is GREAT at it and it is going to serve her well when she gets older and can use her emotional accessibility for more mature roles. More power to her for getting the meaty roles that she plays, it is certainly better than "Bratz" or "Mean Girls".

I have nothing against ERW or her acting abilities... but the casting is all wrong--the character of Natalie in the book was described as overweight and often complained about her body. ???

Also, Agnes was a hunchback!

Luke … this is your father … come set the table for dinner.

Uhm... Her act as Kimberly... In Pretty Persuasion, right? Well, I do think she was supposed to play the whore role, but not like she was in thirteen or RWS. Kimberly was smart and cunning. And actually really scary. She had more to her than exploring her sexuality with little black boys and evil bitches while being hopped up on God knows what. But I do think that this was her sexiest role. She was just plain hot from beginning to end. And she wasn't a whore. She slept with one guy who was older. Much... Much older... But I'd just call her... Misguided.
Anyway, I didn't see anything wrong with her performance in RWS. I actually thought she was awesome (as always).
Plus...
She's *beep* gorgeous.

Any movie with Evan Rachel Wood in it deserves a 10/10!

Exactly that's what I didn't like about the film they should have got somebody who remotely looked like the real character.

She was nothing like how I would have imagined Natalie.

I would say not only a very good actress, but quite a stunning looking woman. She was the highlight of this movie for me. I look forward to her future projects and 13 is such a powerful movie because of her. Jill Clayburgh was my second favorite, she was the most interesting w/ the most camera time, I only wish Gweneth and Evan had a little more time on screen in this movie.

Did you tell LUKE..? Is THAT who you could tell??

reply

Did you honestly expect them to pick someone less attractive? Pft.

reply

^ Well yes, actually, considering she is nothing like the description of the character in the book.

reply

i agree with queenjustine....did they even READ the book?

reply

shes the best actress i've ever seen by far.

reply

blah blah blah the book. Who actually cares less about the book. I'm not interested in the book in the slightest. This was a movie not a book. Go to book club if you want to discuss books.

Evan Rachel Wood is almost too beautiful to be real. And it's not that fake glamourous rubbish that pretends to be beauty, it's through and through with her. She will be the biggest thing in movies like a female Johnny Depp. I picked him right from Jump Street.

reply

For something different watch her in whatever works.

reply

I never read the book, but I keep thinking that if I read the book now-
It would be much more pleasing to picture the actors in the movie. I thought the relationship portrayed between Natalie and Augusten was very very very believeable and good.

I love Evan Rachel Wood, personally.

reply

I think she's horrible in a way that she doesn't have much range, or does but doesn't show it.
But she's good at being intense, which is what she always is. And she's good at being dramatic.

reply

I've never been more in awe of a performance by any actress than I was with Evan's performance in Thirteen. And her characters might have things in common, but she plays each differently - and because of her acting they all seem like completely different people.

She completely deserves all the praise she gets from the movie critics and from the directors she's worked with.

reply

I don't know if Evean Rachel Wood is a bad actress so much as she she has done this type of role so much that it has grown a bit tiresome.

reply

I agree with the OP and then some. And don't she just hasn’t had the chance to show her range because she has no variation for the characters she does play. I laugh whenever she does a crying scene because I'm thinking, "Haven't I seen this ridiculous attempt at emotion before?" She was the weakest part of the movie.
Oh, and just because Natalie in the book was a little heavy, that doesn't mean she wasn't pretty. Stop buying into that media crap.

If a=b, and b=c, then I numbers aren’t what I thought they were.

"Is SUCH a bad actress! She's done that 'look at me I'm a teenage whore' role enough! She's not even any good at it. Can't stand her!!"

I don't know if I'd say she's bad, but when people do the same roles over and over it kind of annoys me. It's a little snobby of the actor.

reply

Go rent Thirteen on dvd, melodyalice and i know it's your opinion but she's not a bad actress at all!! Seriously, she's good.

reply

I don't think it's so much that she always plays a teenage whore, but more that her role selection has to do with real life and real characters. How many people can relate to characters in romantic comedies with perfect lives? When their only problem is a relationship or finding their "soulmate"? Not very many. I understand why Evan chooses the roles she does, and I praise her for it.

reply

She's a fine actress but what a beautiful face?Saw her in King of California with Michael Douglas for the first time and was fascinated with those wonderful eyes.

reply

I used to love ERW but now i think she needs to move onto different roles something softer. I love this book and just thought the whole movie was miscast not just ERW.

reply

I wouldn't say she is a bad actress, just miscast as far as the actual Natalie goes - she was..... plus-sized. I found Wood to be enjoyable, though that may be a result of the fact that I was drawn to those girls in high school.

reply

*bump*

Eh, everyone can have their own opinion, but I thought she was brilliant in this movie. The "I need high ceilings" scene where she explained Terrence Maxwell was so heartbreaking and beautiful (and oddly therapeutic). She also did wonderfully in Across the Universe.

I am Jack's broken heart.
