I disagre. I don't see the same style. The same attention to detail. Set design. Cinematography , all different. Also, the flaws of the characters in Wes Anderson movies do not grate on you. The headcases in Anderson movies have some lovability factor. Here, they can get on your nerves.

actually I see the same style of Wes Anderson with this movie, but its so much better Ryan Murphy... I think Wes Anderson movies are so f&%$n pretentious.

This film really reminds me of The Royal Tenenbaums, so yeah I do see some similarities.

Well, I agree with the one who said that. I cannot exactly tell you what the similarities are, but it happened that I watched the movie for 5 minutes and told to my son ahhh...another Tennembaums movie. I dunno what was, probably the characters, the saga of the dysfunctional American family (Family Stone, also?)or the freakier-ish characters. And BTW, I'm fed with freaks "indie" movies, Napoleonish-Littlesunshiniesh personifications. It's ok one but don't brandish the stories please!!

With no sarcasm intended, do you think it would feel like a Wes Anderson thing if Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't in it? I actually thought of Anderson too but have only got to the part where Augusten (did anyone know his real name was Chris? I sort of keep correcting everyone, since they would have called him Chris then :0-)) has told Evan Rachel Wood's character he is gay.

He looks so much like Chris Cofer from Glee, I keep expecting a different voice. This is a much nicer one :)

I completely agree. When I first put this one I thought "Oh god is this a Wes Anderson movie?" but as it went on (though seeing certain similarities) I liked it a lot.

I hate Wes Anderson movies. As you said, they are so pretentious.

Yep, I saw the similarities to "Tennenbaums" too. That's why I came to this site, to see if the same people wrote it or directed it.

The way outrageous things were said so dead-panned.
The way the most bizarre acts were treated as normal occasions by the characters.
The way you could sometimes relate to the characters, even in the most bizarre situations.
The way the characters would sometimes do things you have sometimes wanted to do, but never would, because people would think you were...well, nuts.

I just posted the same thing a minute ago before seeing this. I absoloutely agree. It had the same air to it. I loved it. A wonderful quirky film with Gwyneth Paltrow as the cherry on top

Wes wouldnt have handled this, this movies plot is way darker than anything he's done

IMO, this film did not remotely resemble a Wes Anderson movie.

Wes Anderson is a lot lighter, this film was quite dark. He throws in the occasional dark elements but Wes Anderson is Candy Floss.

yeah i found this to be a bit of a mockery of an anderson film

I lost the game
