Thanks for the link. I just watched the movie and had my doubts about the validity of the story. As with most movies based on real life, the story gets exaggerated.

The movie is interesting nonetheless.

I originally read Goodbye Bafana back in 1997 after being loaned it by my cousin and a few years later, cross-referenced it with Long Walk to Freedom.

For someone allegedly so close to Mandela, there was basically only one detailed reference to Gregory in the entire book, which specifically stated that Mandela never discussed politics with him and he was regarded as a quiet, honest guard.

Goodbye Bafana is essentially a work of fantasy based around Gregory's limited interaction with Mandela.
