Was the boy mentally challenged?

I mean he acted as a five-year-old stubborn boy. His attitudes were nthing like 12-year old. He was old enough to understand that his sister was doing her best to get his custody instead he was always annoyngly complaining that she wasn't doing anything. Even if he had had a terrible childhood at foster homes, that would make him wiser, not more childish as he was. This character was one of the major problems with this film in my opinion.

I think that he was trying to make the best of the situation...what I have issues with is the bully, why is he always picking on him...that's who I'd be asking about, what's wrong with him, and why doesn't the mother see anything, she just turns a blind eye.....

ohhh look you have pictures of your family, how childish......no, not really..he's the childish one for saying anything like that....

Yeah I felt they did not cover anything about that kid like they should have. He bullied her brother yet the woman kept getting onto the brother instead of the kid doing the bullying. I mean what was wrong with her thinking that the smaller kid started the fight. Then later the bully tells the sister her brother left a card for him. That to me was out of his character. He had been nothing but mean and tearing up his poster yet he doesnt throw away a card or tear it up too but gives it to her. That really made no sense that he would even do something nice like that.
