What Terminator movies did you see in the theater?
I've seen T2, T3, and Salvation. Salvation I liked the least because they didn't have laser guns and such, something I was looking forward to. Since time has passed and the terrible T5 has come out, this movie ain't half bad. I actually wanted to see Salvation, read articles about it. When I saw the first trailer for T5, I wasn't excited. I was hoping Arnold would go back to his evil Terminator roots, but he didn't.
Salvation didn't take away or change key details, only added and created new things, like all the drones. Killer drones are a real thing now, so in that sense the movie holds up better.
Action is solid and the acting is 10X better than Genisys. The plan was to make a trilogy, but I knew after seeing it that that wasn't gonna happen. A weaker rating really did hurt because as an adult fan, I don't wanna see a non R-rated Terminator. Don't know why T5 didn't learn from that HUGE mistake.
Seeing T2 in the theater was epic, saw it with my brother and mother. 90's were a great time to be an Arnold fan. That movie was just epic and I think it's important to remember the time the movie came out and how society was feeling back then. It was just dead on for being awesome, state of the art CGI and action scenes never seen before. Plus, the glory of a pilot with 3 hands. Least Cameron doesn't edit out mistakes like that, just adds to his movies. TBH, I don't like the director's cut, which seems to be the only version on DVD now. It's not the same movie I saw in theaters or owned on VHS. Definitely the negative side effect of DVDs and digital movies, easier editing by directors post theatrical release.
People bash T3 quite a bit for whatever reasons, but if you saw that movie in the theater, you would've appreciated the action. PC/TV viewing doesn't compare to the theater. What made me enjoy the movie more too was watching actors talk about the movie on talk shows. The special features on DVD were also entertaining. Having good special features makes me appreciate and like a movie more. Back in the day, DVDs mainly just had bios of the actors, trailers, or a list of movies the actors were in, pre-this site. "Universal Soldier" original DVD comes to mind, Pretty basic, but that was standard for the times. Great movie, one of my first DVDs.
I saw the movies in order and I like them just the same. Saw T1 on VHS first, one of the first R-Rated films I saw, that and Robocop. I used to be scared watching T1. Then the series got gradually more ridiculous and muted.
me.
