At the time of Jeff Springers birth, that area boasted a huge aerospace industry operation in the way of Lockheed Corporation.

And, people from the nearby San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles, CA) were beginning to move there in droves due to cheaper cost housing.

The area was hardly a "virtual ghost town" in 1973. lol.
