Read the book, just randomly came across this movie online (haven't seen it yet)... If you read the book who did you picture Socrates being? In my mind i saw Sam Elliot. Probably won't watch this, but just thought it was an odd choice.

I actually like Nick Nolte as Socrates in this movie. It seems like a logical progression in his career.
The rest of his acting jobs shouldn't only be grandpa/wise teacher roles but it doesn't hurt to have a few in the mix.
