Need help with something.

What is the name of the building where the final cometition was held ?

I was in New York City two weekends ago, visiting Ground Zero and the group of people i was with,were walked up these stairs, through an overpass, then through some buildings that have some stores in it. Then I got winded quickly and had to stop. When I stopped and looked over, there was this huge open space with and ampatheater like steps that went down, there were dark green round like collums on the sides of the space and an open glass window on one side with PALM TREES (that was key to this place. There were palm trees)and there was an even larger open window on the otherside over looking the Ground Zero sight. I reconized the place immedetly as being the place where the final comitision was held in this documentary.

In the documentary I remembered the kids walking to the competition, taking the subway and what not. Then there was this place and it had palm trees. I thought that's odd why would there be palm trees in a building in the middle of New York City. If anyone knows the name of the building I would be thankful. I just want to know where I was.
