So how many times have YOU watched the Wilson/Rumba clip?

...I've seen it at least 25 times since seeing the movie (twice) because it never fails to pick me up!

It's at the official site: http://www.madhotballroom.com

I've watched it a bunch! Part of the fun of it is when the lady teacher jumps up and looks like she's going to leap on that pole...the fact that you can't see her facial expression is what makes it so interesting...you watch it again and again as if you might see her face eventually. The man teacher is neat too, the way he looks down and claps his hands!

This was a fabulous movie

Good to know I'm not the only one obsessed with this scene!

Oh my goodness... they are SO GOOD! I just get so excited for them because they know they are awesome. I can't imagine dancing that well at any age, let alone 11! Wilson is adorable, I love him, and I think he really just makes the movie so great.

I'm glad I'm not the only one obsessed with that scene. I've looked at it many, many times, much more than 25. I've seen the movie 3 times, and it never fails, whenever that scene comes on, the audience just gasps and shouts because they dance so well. They are so damn good, their Cuban motion (hip movement) so spot on, they make the other dancers look like they are doing the robot. Great movie, great scene, can't wait til it comes out on dvd.

Well, guess what, now that it is on DVD, I've purchased it and will probablly watch it more than anyone here! I just have to say I agree with you all, that the Rumba dance clip with Wilson and Esalmayls were the best. And judging from their peers, they seemed to think so too. Does anyone know the correct spelling and pronounciation of Esalmayls name? I've seen it spelled several ways.

reply

yeah, wilson literally made the whole damn movie. love that kid.

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad to see other people who loved Wilson's rumba! I nearly fell off the couch, and I felt like jumping and pounding along with the teacher!

And to see his little face shining with such pride...oh, I just want to hug him!!

Yeah the scene is fantastic, they're both such good dancers and it's gorgeous to see Wilson doing so well despite having language barriers.
Plus he has the most AMAZING coloured eyes, which looks like he gets from his mum.
At the finals there is that close up of him watching from the side of the stage and his eyes are just stunning, he's going to be a stunner when he grows up!
Gorgeous kids, great film!!

I've watched the wilson/elsamelis rumba SO many times too. But my absolute fave moment is actually the last dance by Jatna and her partner(the tango couple) when they have to do merenge. The bit where Jatna's doing the turn and she makes this face that just says 'oh we are so good' and one of the judges sees it and puts her hand over her mouth. It's awesome. I also really love the way the camera starts at their feet at the beginning of this dance and then moves up, it's way artistic. And I love the mood of that last dance. It's like it's a dance off!! and they so clearly are gonna win. Oh this film is awesome.

Does anyone know where I can find this Rumba video clip? I searched on YouTube but could not find the whole thing. I loved this clip and had watched it many times, but now I don't have the DVD any more. Every time it brought a big goofy smile to my face, just love it.

Hi, not sure if you will see this but if you do, you may be able see the movie again on TV coming up September 29th 2007. If you have Dish Network with the Dish Latino programming, it's being shown twice on channel 898 (TMC-W), 6:40 am and 1:05 pm.

Geez, how can anyone NOT fall in love with Wilson after watching this film? He's so incredibly cute, i mean look at those amazing eyes! Plus, he dances like a pro at such a tender age, it's unbelievable. I've watched all his rumba dance scenes like a million times and i never get tired of it. His expressions and attitude while dancing are wonderful to watch, and i always thought he carried himself like a little gentleman which absolutely melts my heart. Darn, juz talking about Wilson make me want to watch the film again!

i think this is my favourite part of the film ;)
but what is the song called that theyre always dancing the rumba to?

The clip is now available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7payhKvFrk

The whole interview is pretty interesting and the dance is at the end, starting at 7:00.

This was my favorite dance number, too, and I think it won them the trophy. Both kids have real talent!
