Aren't they supposed to be 10 or 11?

Some of the kids on the Indigo team seemed a lot older than 11. Like the girls who danced the swing and the foxtrot, for instance, were a lot more developmentally mature than most 11 year olds. And then a lot of the kids from the Bensonhurst school seemed a lot younger than 10, like Michael and some of those little Asian girls.

Aren't American kids allowed to redo years if they don't make the grade? So although they are theoretically in class for eleven year olds, they could be older. I think the UK is one of the few countries where you automatically move up every year, no matter how well you perform.

Some of them do look kinda older than 10 and 11 but if you really look @ them they look their age. (-- seems like that 2 me, maybe not 4 every1)

My dvd sleeve mentions grade 4 and 5. ages 9 to 11.

The start of the feature mentions how things were when the project started.

Quarterfinals, the look, hints that 9 to 11+ might be close.

I could not get anywhere with a simple net search re finding more details.

kids mature at different rates. They all looked within the 9-11 age range to me. They looked how girls looked when i was that age. And Asian girls tend to be smaller.

It wasn't explained but I believe that different grades were all competing together. The Green team all seemed younger than the Indigo team. Probably an economic decision. Holding separate competitions for each age group would double or triple the costs and lead to cancellation of the whole program.

Some 11-year-old girls look like young women, because they are if you get my drift. I was one of them.

When I was 11 I could have passed for 14. Other kids in my grade looked 8. Just how puberty works.
