My theory about the movie

You know how Jaycee in the beginning is going to give up her baby for adoption, but then doesn't? Well the teacher(Jane Krawkowski)says that her and her husband were going to adopt a baby, but at the last minute the mom changed her mind. What if Jaycee was the mom that changed her mind?

reply

i think she was the one who made the decision.

That was what I got out of it. At the end of the movie she says that her baby was meant to be with the couple so I think its highly possible, or it could just be a coincidence....but if it was then why would they put in the movie?

reply

I though that exact same thing. I think that Charley was meant to go with them all along. I'm sad she gave him up but it was a good ending.

On this movie her name is spelled Jacey, but I like that you spelled it Jaycee cause that's how I spell my name. Just thought I'd mention that.

Some good reasons for this not being the case are mentioned in another thread... sorry I don't remembe which thread

well i think she that jacey wasn't the mom who changed her mind because that would be like weird i guess...but who knows it could've been

That's eaxctly what I tohht whne i frist saw it...whne jane says "she lsot a baby" i was jsut liek omg i bet they were supposed to get charley

reply

that is exactly what I thought

for the longest time, thats exactly what i thought. i still kind of think its true.

i thought that at first too, but Jaycee would have met Jane Krawkowski and her husband while she was pregnant. They would want to meet each other and adoption isn't something you want to do via email.

Not necessarily. It seemed that until she was told about it, Jaycee didn't seem aware that open adoption was an option. And also when Jacyee's mum comes to take Charley away, she doesn't refer to the parents by their name. If she had met them, she would've at least referred to them as so.

I agree with whoever said that it wouldn't have been worth mentioning them nearly adopting before if we weren't supposed to assume it was Jaycee.

Hmm, idk that we are supposed to think Charlie was supposed to go to them though. I feel like that was added in to show how devastated they were when at the last minute they didn't get the baby. Then when Jacey learns this I think it was supposed to resonate with her and further encourage her to give them the baby. I mean it's possible they were supposed to get Jacey's baby but I just think it was a coincidence since they've been trying to adopt for a while and I think it isn't that uncommon for birth mothers to change their minds at the last minute when the baby is born.

They said they started IVF after the adoption fell through, and they just had a third attempt. That wouldn't happen in five months. So no, I don't think she was the mother who backed out.
