Does this movie contain political allegories?

I was reading this review on the web I was kinda surprised that somebody made this kind of connection.

"This movie is about a bunch of animals living in a giant “bowl,” essentially, that is about to flood and possibly kill hundreds of thousands, and all of this is played up for laughs, with some characters even refusing to leave their homes. Sound familiar? You see, it’s funny because a year before this movie came out, almost two thousand people died in Hurricane Katrina. Hilarious, right!? Seriously, why this topic? Why would they put a character in the movie, a vulture voiced by Will Arnett, whose sole purpose is to get excited about the oncoming slaughter?"

Personally I don't believe for a second that this was what the creators intended but to each their own.

Even if that's what they intended, I don't see why it would be a bad thing, as that writer seems to think. I think it's hilarious when people earn themselves a Darwin Award, so why not make a movie about it? >=]

If it's a political allegory it's about the head-in-the-sand attitude of Americans (and the human race in general) to global warming I suspect, not to Katrina specifically.

Good God - never crossed my mind.
I just get carried away by the characterizations.

Good idea for a thread, though.
I really like how it explores relationships between creatures who should be natural antagonists, friendship & identity, all without giving it all the trauma stuff that Disney films include i.e. Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Madagascar 2.

Not that I'm dissing Disney - far from.
