Tim Roth the villain has giant cross on his chest

Is this more demonization, anti-Christian bias, leftist propaganda? Or harmless satire? The damn cross was so prominently sewn into the black outfit. Was that really necessary? Whatever, no one saw this trash anyway...

He wears a cross on his chest, as most noblemen (or noble pretenders) did because during this time period there was very little separation between church and state. If you were with God then you were with the Crown, and vice versa. But not all people in the ruling class are as pious and many wear the cross because it is expected of them, not to denote their religious affiliation.

So, Roth wearing the cross is not a demonization against the church, but rather an example of Roth's heresy and hypocrisy.

Now, if you want to look for demonization look to the nuns.
