How did the librarian die???

i just watched that scene like 5 times. The librarian is talking, chick screams, Leslie holds up his weapon, the librarian is dead. There is NO sound or anything to indicate he's attacked her. There's no time in between these moments that he COULD have attacked her. Yet she falls over dead. WTF?

Didnt she just faint?

You REALLY didn't take that as Leslie stabbed her in the back with that weapon?

REALLY?

Thank God you asked on the internet.

I always felt that she fainted, because Taylor doesn't seem to upset after the whole sequence. Taylor didn't get really upset until the kids started dying in the house which seemed to be her breaking point that people were actually dying. The librarian dying doesn't seem to gel with what happens later on.

Leslie did not kill her, she fainted.

The crew was recording everything that happened in the library and in the following "I have an Ahab!" scene everyone is happy. It's not until the two kids are murdered in the bedroom of the house that it completely hits the crew that this is real, this is really happening. Pretty sure they would have had a good idea of the reality had they watched the librarian being murdered before their eyes.

I am sure Leslie was not going to kill the librarian even if his Ahab did not show up at that point as Taylor was his survivor girl from the beginning. He knew she would turn on him the moment everything became "real"... killing the librarian would have ruined his plan, while failing to kill someone he said was going to die helped Taylor convince herself it wasn't actually going to happen.

I've watched this movie probably half a dozen times and never actually considered that. Interesting.

I just thought she had a heart attack myself. She was rather old and elderly people have weak hearts so I figured all the stress of the situation was just too much for her and her heart gave out.

I re-watched this for the zillionth time this weekend and thought about this post. In the movie, I think it's very implied Leslie killed the librarian, though its true you don't see any blood or anything (though you do hear the scythe sound).

Prior to the scene, he states "after I off the librarian" and "it's gonna get wet," both implying he was planning to kill her. He also discussed killing the librarian with Eugene and his wife in the previous setup.

But there's still the point that the film crew doesn't seem to react at all to his potential first killing they witness. So.... whatever.

Judging from the fact that the film crew freaked over right when Leslie was really gonna kill for the first time, I'd assume that the librarian fainted. That would make more sense.
You didn't see him swing down the weapon either.

reply

I think she fainted, but I'm not entirely sure why as she didn't even turn around to see Leslie.
