I don't get it.

I don't understand this film.

Why on Earth would anyone take a concept like that and NOT use real people?

reply

I agree. I waited for a joke or at least a point, but nothing came. Had this question been asked to real people, it might have been interesting.

reply

Because the concept is not about how those people would react - its about how you do and spend time afterwards thinking if you are someones favourite person

Errrr... I guess. I couldn't care less.

You may never see this, but there was humor in the film. You may not have been amused by it, but it was there.

Yeah...

Oh, I wasn't replying to you, you probably can tell that, but if it matters at all, the humor was subtle. This doesn't mean you have to enjoy it, I'm just saying. Miranda July's character choosing the highest option and then going back, the second guy is so sure he's no one's favorite person, but then he reveals he has a girlfriend, the last guy explaining why he doesn't want to take part.

I don't think it needed real people, you may never get anything interesting out of them, and it's not like what Miranda July wrote the characters to say was unrealistic. Aren't most films made with the intention of wanting you to think about them afterward? It doesn't need to be a documentary in order to do that. But if you don't care, you don't care, no big deal.
