Bleaching for Beauty

Why can't black people accept that lighter skin is considered preferred? All women of color (Latina, Asian, Indian, Black, etc) all prefer lighter skin to darker. Why does it have to be condemned as racist? Its similar to bigger breast being a preferred trait among women as well.

I don't think it has anything to do with racism, but the main message for that episode was that it isn't healthy. The chemicals put into the bleaching cremes are dangerous, and that was the main point of the show. It's exactly like white women going tanning for 3 hours in a tanning bed to get darker skin, The tanning bed is doing a lot more dammage than good. Just like the bleaching cremes.

i guess. but with a lot of white people tanning these days, your theory seems kind of sketchy. i don't know many white people who want to look like Casper the ghost.

I guess because some people think being lighter means they're trying to be white. Same goes for wearing weaves, dying your hair, etc.
