I can't believe Laurence deviated from black, leather jackets

I understand her strategy of incorporating color, but BIG MISTAKE! She could have kept the dark to light theme all the while throwing some black leather jackets with elaborate shoulders and other black dresses in there. That's her signature.
First 3 looks black
next 4 looks some other color
and last 3 looks white

She could have locked up the win easily. We will soon find out if this makes a difference or not. We will soon find out.

Laurence would not have won even if her collection was all black or looked like a rainbow. They wanted Erin to win. And that's that.

reply

I thought she was going to win for sure all season. So sad that they steered her the wrong way. Her black leather work was unbeatable.

reply

She should have never conformed to the judges' suggestions that she do something new and abandon her signature looks. She's the best designer and had been the most consistent.

Her collection was disappointing. She should have stayed true to herself.

I don't think they wanted her to abandon her signature looks completely. They just felt she was becoming a bit repetitive with them, which IMO is accurate - they wanted her to add some surprise and excitement to them. They never told her she should go in a completely different direction. I don't know why she interpreted their comments that way.

Not that it makes any difference anyway. This season has been rigged all along for Erin to win, and even if Laurence had given the judges what they wanted, I doubt it would have changed the outcome.

FffffC-K! Erin? Erin?! The Valley girl who couldn't even get a coherent sentence out before introducing her collection. THAT'S who represents this stupid millennial generation? THIS IS WHERE FASHION IS GOING? Erin?! I give up.

And that stupid Zendaya who went all up in arms about fashion police saying her dreads looked like it smelled of petchuli oil is saying she'd wear that stupid banana print outfit. Who is she, what is she? A nobody and yet she's a guest judge? How? Who the hell is her agent s(r3w!ng?

How many times has Laurence been in the bottom. 0.
How many times has Erin been in the bottom. MANY!

I never heard of her, but did you notice there was actually a commercial spot for her aired during the show? Guess there was a bit of quid-pro-quo going on.

I would have loooooved to see her do a complete ombre of colors and textures..... with all the black being heavy and dramatic, into some deep greys, then light greys and finally whites.... and as the lighter colored ones came down the runway, it could have incorporated all that beading and light girly tailored flare that she seemed to have lost.... I just think she could have went super literal with that, "from darkness into light" concept

I thought Laurence's final outfit - the one Alla wore on stage - was hideous.

reply

I hated it too. What happened to my Laurence 😢

No Roger, no Rerun, no rent

reply

Oh yeah that final piece was awful.

I find that the designers who wind up sticking to their guns rather than take the judges' critiques too seriously wind up producing the best collections.

reply

Despite all the loony conspiracy theorists, I do agree if Laurence played to her strengths, she would have one. She just got stuck on the critique she was one note so she tried to go a completely different way instead of varying slightly.
