James Corden's talk show rehearsals

It seem like he didn't do too well

The article seems to suggest that Americans will reject him because of the accent. I find that hard to believe. Many Brits have obviously found great success in America. The audience response otherwise doesn't seem too inspiring either.

They're basing this on an article in the Daily Mail so take with liberal pinch of salt.

Warning! If you follow the link, there's a photo of Corden in an apron. Nude from the back. My eyes, my eyes!!

I saw a 53 second clip of the show which was done yesterday. He laughed shrilly most of the time and I don't think I want to watch any more. Boy, do I miss Craig.

The Mail is verging on being a bit like Fox if anyone wants a comparison.

The most accurate point of the article, for me, would be the fact it was noted as "too much like the other shows"

The entire LLS audience has grown to love what Craig did with it. It wasn't like any other late night show. If it becomes a straight monologue (if he's even doing one) guest one, sketch, guest two, close type show it won't stand out and there's others doing it better already.

I always thought it was doomed to failure given what he's following.

I read somewhere that he wants to do it ala Graham Norton, where all the guests are on at once.

Guess we'll find out soon!

Looks like he's only going to be doing it Monday - Thursday with Friday as a repeat. Not sure how good of an idea that will be.

As for his accent, I don't think that is ever going to be an issue. I tried to watch some of his monologues but just didn't find him funny. Just like everyone that goes into late night, it'll take a while for him to find his niche.

Watched that Letterman interview and he comes across as a p***k, not that that surprises anybody. I do understand his view on why did it take three months from when Craig's ended and before Corden's began. I would've understood starting at the beginning of February but I think mid March was way more time than what he needed. But also, that's condescending in that when he signs off next month, it'll be reruns for three months before Colbert takes his spot in September. Colbert has had plenty of time (even more than Corden) to get his version of the show ready. No reason why he couldn't be ready by sometime in June. Don't think Dave has said anything about that. Just wondering if he's grouchy that CBS has the rights to The Late Late Show now and Worldwide Pants doesn't.

The show is a mix of what Graham Norton is doing and a bit of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. I am shocked he didn't hire 4 Poofs and a Piano as the band.
