So, What Do You Think?

does he have potential?

It's going to be part NBC Letterman, part Jimmy Fallon, and a little Craig Ferguson. Corden won't do the typical late night ritual of making crappy jokes about current events (Ferguson). He will do skits with the guests (Fallon), and he will visit apartments delivering pizza to college students (Letterman pre 1993).

It has a lot of potential, but I will miss Ferguson, and Josh Robert Thompson.

New guy is lame. He's like Fallon.

He's ok. He'll probably do fine. Way too early for him to have his own "theme", if that makes sense. Ya know what you "do". Craig was the cartoony/innuendo guy.

I feel sorry for him actually. Absolutely love Craig and Josh but it's unfair to compare them.

Talk show hosts aren't characters. Every incarnation is a different show. It's not about being a replacement. It's getting your own show...the name only stays the same as a formality. There's no on-going theme all versions need to stick too.

The set is nice but awkwardly placed. I like that the guests come out together. That's one of the reasons I like Graham Norton's show.

A mish-mash of influences, 1st half of last night's show was in Letterman/Kimmel territory with pieces to camera with ordinary people. 2nd half, from the interview to the re-enactment of the soap was Graham Norton territory. The game the guests play tonight, mind link, harks back to Kilborn's Yambo.

Seems okay so far. I'm recording the first few nights to see how it is - probably only watch for a specific guest after that.

One of the first things that I noticed is that the title sequence is similar to Craig's. Even has Pink's in it. Guess it was cheap to film some spots near the studio.
