Bad acting by Jonathan Rhys Meyers

I hated the scenes where he supposley sings..it is quite obvious he´s doing playback over to elvis´s original songs. What a shame.

He may be bad but the actress playing Priscilla was so bad I turned off. Where'd they get her?

Jonathan was great in the movie, he moves like Elvis! I never really known Elvis and i discovered him more and the irish accent was nowhere. He did a wonderful Job ! that role was not so easy to do! Congrats!

I didn't mind the movie so much, but the lip-syncing bugged the crap out of me, as it does in EVERY movie it's done for. With the technology we have nowadays, why not allow the actor/actress to actually SING along with the playback tape so that it will at least look a bit more natural because you can ALWAYS tell when someone is lip-syncing, and I think it makes the actor/actress look stupid as well as takes something away from the movie itself. So what if you can't sing? Do it anyway and just have your voice dubbed over. If you're shooting the person from faraway it's not so bad, but if you're very up-close (as they were with JRM in this movie), it looked terrible and you could COMPELTELY tell he was lip-syncing and it just bothered the hell out of me!

Lip synching isn't always bad, like in The Greatest Show on Earth. The reason the lip synching is bad here is because these are all past recordings and not made for the film to match the actor.

I really don't understand how he ever got this role... He doesn't look a whole lot like Elvis, doesn't talk/sound like Elvis, can't sing like Elvis, he can't play guitar (and didn't even bother to make it look like he can, just watch his left hand: he's not even trying to make it look like he's playing any real chords) and his lip synching was terrible.

Just rewatched this again after reading more about Elvis and him blowing up in the recording studio and the blatant arrogance in front of others is very unlike Elvis. Even if and when Elvis had a big head, he kept it hidden or within his circle. He was always meek, shy, and deferential in front of others and he never lost his temper while recording. During rehearsals or in the studio he always kept a chill and relaxed atmosphere and never gave anyone trouble or blow up on anyone. He was very easy to work with despite being a perfectionist requesting take after take until he was satisfied.
