Binge Drinking Mom episode

How annoying was that woman? I could only make it through 15 minutes before I changed the channel because the parents were severely lacking in parenting skills. How many parents plan/discuss binge drinking with their 9 yr old son? The parents seem so nonchalant about their 19 yr old daughter drinking - the dumb girl even brags about her high tolerance to both parents. Isn't the drinking age 21?

After the scene where the mom got drunk off gin & tonics at the restaurant and drunk dials her daughter, I had to turn it off. Both parents are too dumb for words and nothing positive or even enlightening can come off this.

Morgan should have, instead, done an episode on how parents try too hard to become their children's best friends and end up with misguided kids. The mother can think about that while bouncing on her trampoline.

I just watched this one last night on netflix.
But my thoughts on the whole thing how annoying the daughter was. I mean when she was acting like a brat I really wanted to smack the sh!t out of her!
I was thinking if shes so happy then why she does she have to drink like that?
I mean i'm not against drinking in general but to drink to get wasted to the point of black outs?
I think the mother should have tried to figure out what was wrong in her life to cause her to drink that much. IMO no one drinks themself silly if they are apparently having a good time. And I was also bugged how she was allowed to drink at all given her age. I was honestly thinking her mother just wanted a excuse to drink. So she figured I will do it to make a "point". Yeah right
And I agree with you badjuju about the mother not being a real mother to her.
And she wonders why she has the problems she has? I know the daughter is at fault too but if the mother would have been harder on her she might have not been so wild. And for the daughter to think nothing bad will happen to her. I agreed with her mom when she said it was on pure luck that so far nothing bad has happened. The daughter needs a wake up call of the dangers of her binge drinking. All it takes is one time and then where does that leave her?

When you get beat up by a cat does it make you p___y whipped?

I had to come on here and see if anyone else was annoyed after this episode! I saw it before but just watched it again the other night and I was so annoyed with the mother/daughter dynamic.

That girl was such a rude little snot. Two times getting up during lunch with her mom to "take" a phone call. Who is it? Your broker? Please!

I get the college binge drinking thing... and that the daughter doesn't see a problem... but she was saying stuff about how she is smart when she drinks and nothing will happen to her because she is so in control... yet she is blacking out every time she drinks? Totally in control... yep.

And why doesn't the mom put her foot down a little more and say HEY YOU'RE NOT IN CONTROL IF YOU'RE BLACKED OUT or MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T BRAG ABOUT HAVING THE HIGHEST TOLERANCE OF ANYONE YOU KNOW.

Finally, the mom said something about her luck running out but seemed to back off when the daughter got mad. Oh well, part of being a parent is making your kids "mad" sometimes but doing it anyway because you are doing something for their wellbeing.

I hope that snotty little bitch is appropriately mortified when (or if) she matures and looks back at her horrid behavior in this episode. I was appalled at the utter lack of respect she showed for both herself and her mother and disgusted at her mother's permissive attitude. And seriously - when you have near-daily chats with your teenage daughter about how "buzzed" she was the night before, the fact that she has a drinking problem shouldn't be such a mystery.

I agree. Like many people, I drank my fair share in college and I still drink now, but I certainly never boasted about it, least of all to my effing parents. Also, proudly displaying your drunken blackouts like a badge of honor and insisting to your mother that you're never going to change your binging "style" does little more than prove that you are seriously lacking in the maturity necessary to make responsible decisions about alcohol in the first place.

I know the mother deserves much of the blame for not parenting her daughter, but Christ did I want to see someone slap that girl's face.

4 drinks in two hours, 4 days a week for 30 days?

That's nothing.

On the DVD, there isn't a commentary track for the Off the Grid or the Binge-Drinking Mom episodes, so you don't know how things turn out a year later (or how ever later they did the DVD commentaries). Did anything happen to the daughter after this was filmed (date rape, auto accident, fall down and get injured, etc.)? And why is she only taking classes 2 days a week?

I didn't think 4 drinks in 2 hours as being binge drinking - when I was in college, having 4 beers in 20 minutes was probably the norm.

Does anyone know what happened to the daughter or the mom or that little Boy? That episode was made around 2006 and now its 2012 I would really like to know where that family is now as a psychological study.

BASED ON WHAT WAS SEEN PROBABLY THESE SCENARIOS:

THE DAUGHTER did she graduate/die/get raped/move to drugs/depressed?

WHAT IS SHE GONNA DO WHEN ALL FRIENDS FINISH COLLEGE, GET A GOOD EDUCATION, HAVE A FAMILY, AND IS SHE STILL MESSED UP AND BRAT OR DID SHE STRAIGHTEN UP?

THE MOM did she get addicted to drinking and become alcoholic?

I mean drinking is habit forming and after drinking like that for only like 1 week your body will get used to it and you will drink more and more and more because you keep building up tolerance.

There is no way that Mom went cold turkey from drinking after 30 days...no freaking way I can guarantee on my life there is was a lot of family issues after the filming of that show to get that lady detoxed (she seems like she really didn't have a exciting childhood and was sorta maybe dorky from her younger pictures so this gave her an excuse to drink)

THE YOUNGEST SON being surrounded by siblings and parents who just drank in front of him with no care in the world and ignoring the kid constantly (LOL huge mommy issues on the horizon for that kid when he gets older probably gonna abuse women alot)

Alcoholism runs in the family and the way her attitude was while drinking and wanting to keep going is exactly like how her daughter was. That lady never got a chance to drink like that in her younger years so she never knew how similar she was to her daughter drinking style.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE DAUGHTER OR MOM PLEASE POST

Yea I've been looking at this via Netflix, and I'm about 15 minutes into this episode and I just had to come here, because I'm like "am I the ONLY one who's at least a tiny bit surprised that this girl's underage drinking hasn't been brought up AT ALL??" lol

I mean, I'm not even saying that I'm necessarily that personally strict with it as a hard and fast rule, and common sense tells you that yea obviously there's plenty of under 21 drinking going on at college, but I still wouldn't have thought that this girl/her whole family/etc would've been sooooo willing and happy to have it blatantly documented on film on how regular it is for this 19yo girl to be drinking! It just cracks me up (and like I said I ain't even finished the episode yet, barely 15min in)
