Atheist in the Christian house

The christian husband was an a$$hole.

People like him really give Christians a bad name. He's more than likely a Republican too with his "If you don't like it here, leave" attitude.

I felt bad for the atheist woman because she was actually scared of him. He was a bully.

reply

Absolutely!

He mentions more than once that he cannot imagine any moral values without the Bible - and to me this pretty much solves the riddle of such christian bullies.

They seem to be so full of inner violence and frustration that they cling to the very source of their frustration in order to find a reason not to beat people up all day long.

Perhaps those people should just do sports to cool off - and not bother with spiritual questions at all...

it's pretty easy for someone filled with hate to identify with the god character, who is willing to kill almost every person on earth and damn kind atheists and pagans to hell. he thinks because he can control his rage, he is better than other people and attributes that to a god character who can sometimes control his rage. this gives him excuse to be cruel to others because God can be cruel. And women will stay with an abusive man because they are taught that is normal for men to be cruel, and it's a woman's duty to obey a man no matter how cruel he can be just like we all must obey the male God even if he kills Egyptian babies or hardened Pharaoh's heart or justifies rape or slavery in some instances.

a truly moral person cannot get their morals from such a book full of atrocities. they'd have to be blind to the majority of the book, and be in denial over it's value.

reply

I agree

That moron was the prime example of what is wrong with most religious types.

This episode was the first one I simply couldn't continue watching after the first 10 minutes. He was such an ignorant, aggressive jackass that I couldn't bring myself to watch 45 minutes of him.

Also, I always find it amusing when people like him think they're going to "open doors" or otherwise expose an atheist to something they'd never experienced. It takes a lot of time and deep thought to come to the decision to be an atheist in a religious society - there are far more religiously ignorant people of faith than there are atheists.

I would've loved to have seen a Christian in an atheist home/neighborhood, they'd probably go nuts and commit a massacre. It'd be a localized Inquisition!

Of course I'm just exaggerating, I have plenty of friends who have different beliefs and the ignorant ones are usually the most miserable/close-minded. Either you accept others for the good they do and who they are, or shut the *beep* up.

I can't believe he would show an ex-Christian a church implying she's never seen one before. I'm guessing he believes that since he's been so oppressed because of his religion.

He's clearly not a bright guy, anyone who has seen the episode knows why. Saying to the camera that atheists need to be as open to the possibilities & inclusive of the other sides as he is was funny. Meanwhile earlier he said if you don't like that 'in God we trust' in on money then you can leave, and refused to even answer what a hypothetical scenario would be like (if it said 'there is no God' on all money). He just kept repeating 'but it doesn't say that! but it's not! so there!' Which is hilarious because if I remember right, that's why we came here already; to practice whatever religion we want. But if we really want that, we should leave evidently.

He's the most closed minded person i've ever seen, but then to spew that hypocritical nonsense to the camera about being open to new ideas was just infuriating. His wife was smart & actually tried to actively decode what the atheist lady meant & what she believed. The husband however was a real piece of trash who wouldn't listen to anything she said, then wanted her to listen to him.

Then at the end, he tries to come off as cool and collected by saying she made them examine their life more. He's all talk and literally none of his actions support this. He thought she was a horrible person because she's not like him

The thing is in America, atheist know damn well what it's like to be around a church. they know what it's like to be around someone who professes there love in Jesus. this isn't a new experience for this woman at all! she grew up in a Christian household like most atheists I know.

it is truly most Christians who have no idea what it's like to live somewhere where you just wish that other religious people let their religion be theirs abeing seculard not push it on others. many are scared that Muslims are going to do that to them and they can't even imagine how an atheist would feel! it's ridiculous! they don't understand the golden rule of do unto others, or else they'd be fine with a dollar bill being secular and the pledge being secular, and public memorials being secular. it's fair for everyone
