e-mlodik_deux... what about technicals in terms of cinematography, costumes, art direction, etc. Any logical explanations out there??

Thanks for the stupid generalizations. Breillat is amazing-- maybe if you understood the dialogue and appreciated the wonderful acting in this movie, you'd understand.

e-mlodik_deux...

Will you please provide solid concrete detail(with ZERO bias or prejudice attached) on why you are oh so very disgusted by her films? I personally find them to be unique and meaningful. While they are not my favorite productions to watch, I do not consider them to pretentious failures. They have all left impressions on me that made me really think about what I normally would not be thinking about, but should be thinking about regardless. Her films seem to have a harsh view and interpretation of both society and human sexuality.

Am I an emo chick? NO!!!! I am a preppy blond American who is majoring in(and loves) international film.

Thanks :)

I forgot to mention I am a homosexual male ;)

I'm honestly not offended by her films at all and never have been. I have been extremely disturbed, but never offended.

I know you said "The End" but do you have any actual examples other than generalizations?

Despite a four-star rave from Cahiers du Cinema, the film was not very well-received in France, both critically and audience-wise. Ironically, the reception in the states was much better.

reply

Okay that is understandable. It is just so confusing to me that even the extravagant technicals were completely looked over. Well received or not, I just don't see any kind of fairness in that.

...the wonderful acting . . .
There was some good acting but not by the lead actress, a certain Asia Argento.

reply

Because it is a poor movie, and Ms Argento's performance is instantly forgettable, and that's being kind.
