*Spoilers* Who was the one...

Who died at the end, as stated by Hermangarde?

"This is Fu Manchu. Once again the world is at my mercy."

the wife informs the husband that "Countess de Mendoze" died. I take it that was his ex lover (was she the married one he was at the opera with that was grabbing his privates?) The old women in the buggy says "Marquise de flers" the mother in law died by saying "Did well to die"

I go along with you on this, AxeMan, although in a movie as poor as this one, it's neither here nor there

I just watched the deleted scenes - extras on the region 2 european DVD and actress Sarah Pratt who plays the Aristocrat "Countess De Mendoze" is the one who died. Ryno's wife tells him of this and this is why he is sad as this was the 1st time he cheated on Vellini (Asia Argentos's character) it was with the "Countess De Mendoze" in the deleted scene "Countess De Mendoze" was opposite the chapel as Rynos wife was on the alter getting married, was was crying making peace with letting her lover Ryno go. Asia Argentos character - Vellini comes into scene and feels the need to confront the Countess De Mendoze saying we were both Rynos lovers, and in the course of the argument, the Countess De Mendoze starts to cough and become sick, Asia's character Vellini takes the Countess De Mendoze out of scene by holding her up like shes about to faint.

This scene should have been left in and Catherine does not state why she left it out. for her English viewer it was hard to follow with this scene missing!

I had seen this film at the Toronto Premiere and no one there got it either! it took me until I seen this Euro DVD extras to get the whole story cleared. the Last Mistress is Vellini Asias Character, thats why they show her near the flames in the final scene of the premier version.

FWIW, I had no problem with the identification of who the dead woman was. Ah well...

And good luck with the QnA with poor catherine! I could not understand one word with her accent and the current stroke. I took me until I seen the Euro DVD extras to understand the whole film. and Im in awe of it, it is truly a fantastic film a real peace of world art.
