MMHMM GURLLL (spoil?)

Lolita should've said BITCH! and slapped Shakar right when he broke through the wall. I mean sheesh he attacked her TWO times. I wouldn't be able to forgive that SO easily. Anyway, do you think there should have been a better ending? Or is the lame, yet unintentionally funny, breaking-the-wall-down scene just fine?

I don't know, I would have liked it if they didn't get together in the end. But then again, I'm a huge fan of tragedy, so him just missing her after he realises his STUPIDITY would be ironically awesome, to me.

But I guess to please the masses, the other 99.9% of the movie-going population who isn't as screwed up as I am, that was the only way to go about - melodramatic wall-breaking scenes.

It is, after all, Bollywood, and even a film as good as this have to conform SOMEWHERE. :)

P.S: I know, I would have slapped him too, that chauvinistic pig.. Haha.

Well, it IS based on a book...and he does marry her in the end of the book as well. Minus the melodramatic wall scene, of course. But he does. So maybe the rest of the population is as screwed up as the guy who conceived it.
The movie and book are brilliant, by the way.

I guess she understood why he slapped her, I'm not condoning it at all but it wasn't like it was a moment of maddness or that he was being a typical man, trying to control his woman. The first occassion he did it out of anger because he just heard that she had been arranged to be married to Girish and as she wasn't protesting it, it seemed she didn't mind the fact that she was getting married to him whereas Shakar obviously couldn't take the betrayal and the jealousy.

And the second time she was coming on to him, despite acknowledging that he was about to get married and that he thought she was married to Girish at that time.

Once again, so NOT condoning it but she was already a very considerate, thoughtful person and so she probably forgave him easily because she understood why he lashed out in anger.

Ashmi any question
