I've heard that Parineeta means 'Fairy.' Does Parineeta also mean 'Married Woman?'

In the movie, DIL NE JISNE APNA KAHA, Preity Zinta's name is Pari [short for Parineeta]. She says that her name meant fairy.

In the movie, PARINEETA (2005), in the song 'Raat Hamari Toh,' Parineeta is described as being 'a married woman.'

In the profile here on IMDB, Parineeta means 'the fiancee.'

I'm not a native hindi speaker, so I was just wondering, really, why PARINEETA has so many meanings. Is Parineeta more than just a hindi word? Is it a word from another language?

no actually PARI means fairy..parineeta is different.

Pari and Parineeta, the words, are not related to each other in any way. Pari is not short for Parineeta (though you may call a woman that if you wish, if Parineeta is her name ie.). They are two different words.
Pari means angel.
And Parineeta means 'the betrothed one'(or the married woman).

"They shouldn't be having S-E-X around the B-A-B-I-E!"
