Just watched the movie... Loved it.

Thank god for the little films.

Same here. Great little movie. Too bad it had such a small release. Still, I am sure it will gather quite a fanbase over the years.

Hey, what are some other small indies that have come out in the past year that I may not have heard about?

Can you help me out with a list?

I'd like to catch up on whatever may have slipped past me this year.

If you haven't seen them already you should try:

City Island
An Education
The Last Station
Bright Star
Mary and Max (animated)
Moon
Ondine
Sunshine Cleaning
Easier with Practice
Away We Go
Answer Man (also starring Jeff Daniels)
Jack Goes Boating (along with any movie starring Phillip Seymour Hoffmann)
The Savages (great movie from 2007 that many didn't see)
The Kids are Alright (more well known than some listed but definitely a must see)

Don't say that. Women say that, everything goes black and I wake up surrounded by body parts.

Jep, cute little movie. I fell out of it a couple of times, during the formularic party scene (you just knew how it would end), and the too long streched search for the books main character name (you just knew all along would end in "Richard"), but I held on and it was worth it.

And for sure, I hated the story-wise unecessary sex scene in the car between Abby and *beep* It was so cringeworthy and not needed at all to show their abusive sex-but-nothing-else relationship. That one was already clear during the first scene with them at the front of the drugstore. And even then the brutal kiss wasn't even necessary. Just one look at that guy looking at her and we know it all.

And at first I didn't got too how "the doctor" would stay with a nervous wrack like Richard for so long. But at the end it was clear she fell in love with him in the first place back when the two of them were 20 exactly because he was so quirky and silly. But during their long relationship she grew up, and he didn't. That's what seperated them in the long run. I very liked it how this was shown in the movie. It was great how they fell in love again on the lounge outside.

And that one scene near the end when Abby is sitting in her bedroom and we see two identical dressing tables will haunt me for some time. A very very sad moment.

Also just watched it and came here to say how much I loved it. Honestly with great indies like Moon, 500 Days of Summer, etc. I don't know how this didn't get more popular. It has some minor star power *and* it's an exceptionally well-made, well-acted, and well-written film.

I loved it too. One of my favorite conversations between two characters:
I know what you're thinking.
No you don't. I was thinking about pantaloons

Shawn: The black guy's my partner!
Jules: They're both black

Are you all mental? this movie was dreadful.

I also felt bored. The Jeff Daniels character was not likable at all and was annoying at best. How a doctor could have remained with that loser is beyond me.

reply

It was ok, not the best! And believe me I have been on a movie tear as of late. Especially RR films. :)

This movie was great. Richard wasn't a loser.. he was a great writer but unappreciated. He was slightly unstable but still loving and a good guy.
