I saw this movie!!

I saw it at a test screening and it was definitely worth watching! To anyone who is interested, i recommend it to you if you like movies that you don't know what's going to happen after the first 10 minutes!
It kept me guessing all the way to the end, and it looked SO good for a "Danish" movie. Very impressed.
I give it 8 out of 10.

I can see from another message that the director is on Myspace. Is it really him or just a marketing person doing his page? Does anyone know?

Hmmm…. tande28's post seems fake to me.
I also watched this movie at a test screening, something like 1½ - 2 years ago and it SUCKS!
It is without a doubt one of the worst movies, I have ever seen.
I hardly remember it anymore (Thank God!) but I watched it with a friend and we both felt the same way. And I know for a fact that we where not the only ones. People in the theater where laughing at how bad this movie was. After worth people just looked at each other in disbelief and all around you could hear comments like, "I'm glad I didn't have to pay to see this" and "I want the two hours of my life back".
The story sucks, especially the ending, the acting is not convincing and even embarrassing at times.

It’s sad that a fine actor like Nicolaj Coster Waldau is in something as bad at this and even produced it as well!

So unless they re-wrote, re-cast, re-shot and re-edited this movie, don’t waist your time watching it. It’s more interesting to watch pain dry….

I just wanted to respond the post above.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it bothers me when a hate-filled post appears from a guy who saw an unfinished film over a year and a half ago and now tries to make a general statement as to how the audience felt about the film that day. I know exactly which test screening this guy is referring to, because I was one of the people who analyzed the test results.

I haven't actually seen the entire film yet, so I can't pass judgement one way or the other, but what I can say is that out of all the people who filled out a test questionnaire after the screening, 87% gave the film a positive grade while 13% didn't like it. If those numbers were reversed, the above post would still be an immature rant but might warrant some merit. Obviously that's not the case here.

If you spend any amount of time reading message board posts on websites such as IMDb and Youtube, you will quickly realize that there are many unintelligent and cynical people in this world. Take everything you read with a grain of salt and make up your own mind as to what you like or don't like.

One more thing: I've been on several film festival screening boards, meaning I've helped determine which films will be accepted into a certain festival, and the best advice I ever received from a festival director was: "when viewing an entry, remember that no film is perfect. But if you try and see the positive elements in what you're watching, you'll find there will always be something good about it - a certain performance, the cinematography, the atmosphere, etc. It's human nature to automatically focus on the things you don't like, but if you can view the glass as half full instead of half empty, you will enjoy watching the films a whole lot more, even the ones you're not so crazy about."

That's great advice to anyone who loves watching movies.

Every thing I wrote in my post is 100% true. Maybe the "13%" where all sitting around me, but the general mood in the theater was NOT a positive one. So the 87/13% seems strange to me.
I don't feel I'm being cruel or cynical. I watched a really bad movie and I wanted to let people know my opinion, which I am entitled to have and write about, that’s it!
And the fact that you attack my intelligence just proves that you have NO valid arguments against my comment on this movie. But I have an argument: YOU haven't even seen it!

I LOVE watching movies, but I'm also a movie snob. I don't accept crappy movies and HIMMERLAND is a crap movie. Sure the movie I watched was not finished, I am aware of that, but I work in the movie business and I know a lot about movies and I don't believe that this movie can be saved by re-editing. You can only do so much with that.
I rarely write anything negative about a movie. I'd rather spend time writing about movies I like, but this movie pissed me off, so I made an exception.

So as I said before: Unless they re-wrote, re-cast, re-shot and re-edited this movie, don’t waist your time or money on it.

I just saw the movie at Natfilm festivalen. And I got to agree with the original poster.. This movie was great. In this screening alot of people was almost falling of their chairs laughing, so many times during the movie. Its fair if you dont like the movie, but dont tell people that they cant think its good. You better not tell me that I dont think its an good movie, becouse I do.

The humour is outstanding, I loved some of the scenery shots. The acting was mostly good, and the story was interesting enough to make me and most of the people in the cinema interested. Im debatting if its an 7 or an 8 at the moment, but its deffinitly on the of the best debuts I seen when you consider the budget.

This movie may have pissed you off, but everyone in the world arent like you, think about that before you write about an movie you dont like next time.

Dear Tobias...

This is a message board, where people can come and express there opinions.
If I can only write here when I think a movies is good, that's sensor ship and violates my freedom of speech.

I have at no point told other people what to think about this movie.
I have only advised them to not waist there time on this (what I like to call) garbage.
Whether they those to do so or not is there own decision.

Have a nice day.

dear Stanley

you wrote this

"Hmmm…. tande28's post seems fake to me."

that was what made me anoyed, and if you ask me that is telling people what they should think

You can critize it as much as you want.. just dont tell people that their posts is fake when they like it

reply

Dear Toby!

Not at all!
It's merely an observation. Hence the word "seems".
So many times people from the movie company’s come here and write positive things about there movies to hype them. That is what I felt when I read the first post.
No where in that post does it say "you should think this"
This is an interpretation YOU have made on my post.
And it's completely wrong...

The movie that d d stanley saw might very well have sucked, but it seems unfair to compare the experiences at a test screening 2 or 3 years ago with the current movie. For one thing, they shot a new ending, and I'm sure a good part of the time in between then and now were used in the editing room. I saw the movie at Natfilm Festivalen in Copenhagen last night, and I was thouroughky entertained all the way through.

And as others have remarked this movie looks really good, regardless of the budget. Having the budget in mind it looks absolutely amazing! Sure, good DV cameras are fairly cheap these days, but good cameras alone don't make a pretty movie. These guys also knew exactly how to handle the camera to make things look good. Interesting angles and imaginative (I presume) in-camera editing are scattered all over this movie, so when the plot lingers for a minute or two, there's always something pretty to look at.

This movie deserves to be brought to a bigger audience, and I'm really looking forward to the director's next movie "Aurum".

reply

Well maybe I will just have to watch the "new" version of the movie and based on that viewing write what I think about it than.
Thank you, Outbound Sith, for the info about the new ending. I find that very interesting.

But what do you mean with in-camera editing?
I'm positive that they didn't edit anything "in-camera".

reply

Okay, in camera editing might be pushing it a bit. But considering the fact that there's no way they had the money for fancy CG effects, there are some pretty nifty transitions and wipes in there.

reply

Sorry but transitions and wipe are not whats considered CG effects. The movie was edited on an Avid or Final Cut most likely. It's very simple to makes such "effects" there and dosen't cost extra money.
