Is this the highest grossing WWE film?

With the new ones coming being in limited theaters having no chance. I believe Cena's didn't do so well since he was just copying Segal. This movie with Kane's reputation matching his character and the hype of WWE's film this may have been WWE studios highest grossing film.

Anybody got any number?

According to boxofficemojo:

See No Evil - $18,564,467

The Marine - $22,165,608

So just by looking at the grosses you would think that The Marine was a more sucessful film but if you go into it a little deeper you'll see that that isn't the case:

1)See no Evil was rated R while The Marine was PG-13 so WWE were probably expecting a big difference in revenue because of that.

2)See no Evil was up against what would become one of the highest grossing films of the year (the DaVinci Code). The Marine had less competition.

3)See No Evil's widest release was only 1,270 theatres while The Marine was 2,545.

4)The Marine starred John Cena who was meant to be WWE's main draw at the time while if I remember correctly Kane wasn't really getting up to much in 2006 except this film and getting his butt kicked by an imposter.

So while The Marine technically made more money with all the points considered for the Marine to have only made $3,601,141 more than an R rated film showing in less theatres is a big underperformer. They were expecting big things from The Marine. So really you could argue that See No Evil performed better even though it grossed less.

You forgot to mention the fact that the Marine was twice as expensive as See No Evil. Marine's budget was around $20 million while See No Evil was supposedly $8 million.

Thanks, I overlooked that.

I was surprised at the low budget of See no Evil. I thought it looked really good considering it's low budget.

Yeah, but it was probably a combination of the relatively small/inexpensive cast(a staple of horror films) and the low-tech death scenes(most slashers are cheap anyway). There's also the limited shooting locations meaning you won't have to pay as much since you're mostly filming in the same place or set. In contrast, the Marine had a fair share of explosions, lots of extras, and multiple locations. Easy to see why it was more expensive.

Location rental is probably the most expensive part of filming and staying in one location as we could is what save it the most in budget.
